Sailing Quickly Through The Bahamas

To check into the Bahamas, we headed to Clarence town on Long Island. It was a stormy day when we arrived. Business needed to be done, as we were already a day late due to weather. The customs officer had to be the nicest one ever. She checked us in, without charging us another penny. Needless to say, we had already paid them $600. We ate the most delicious fresh mahi-mahi lunch at the marina. Then, we dinghied back to the boat in the pouring rain.
Next stop, Georgetown, a gathering place for cruisers. We spent two days there, ducking in from the high winds, climbing up to the Christopher Columbus memorial statue and exploring the area. Then, we moved on to Black Point, the secret cruising spot. We met up with our friends from Honu Time, met a ton of people and went to many happy hours at the local restaurants. The Bull and Nurse sharks, and the turtles were abundant there - no swimming for us. The walk down to the blowhole was beautiful. Several stops were made for drinks at the local stores. And Tim got a guitar!! We would have stayed longer than five days but, we had to get to Nassau quickly to pick up the crew. On to Highbourne Bay for the night and the next day to Nassau.
Crossing the bank to Nassau was a bit tricky. We had to watch carefully for bombies (large coral heads) - "eyeball navigation" as it is called. Captain Tim did a great job navigating through the bank. We pulled into Nassau Yacht Club and settled in for the night.
Two days later, I flew to South Carolina to visit family while Tim took on two crewmen to sail to meet me in S.C.
